EvolutionaryScale, a pioneering AI startup that enables scientists to understand, imagine, and create proteins, has taken a substantial step towards making biology programmable.
CEO and Chief Scientist Alex Rives discusses ESM3, EvolutionaryScale’s foundation model for the life sciences, capable of comprehending the sequence, structure, and function of proteins. Using Amazon SageMaker HyperPod, EvolutionaryScale was able to train ESM3 on over 2 billion protein sequences, utilizing a trillion teraflops of compute, pushing not only the boundaries of AI, but also the limits of protein engineering and drug discovery.
